  •      March 2010 A lot of cold calling phising attacks are doing the rounds.
The deputy head of the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) has advised victims of fraud to report these directly to a new agency,
Action Fraud the national fraud reporting centre, rather than your local police force.

    • * Access codes if they offer to take control of your PC
    • * The name of any software they may try and sell you

New Hard Drive format to change by 2011 - XP users may be affected
If you are using XP and replace your hard drive with one of the new formatted ones that have 4K block sizes (instead of the usual 512 bytes), you may find that when data is being written to the hard drive it may take slightly longer than at present using the current formatting.
Only XP is affected, as Windows 7 (and other operating systems) already allow for the larger block sizing
The advanced format will allow hard drive makers to produce larger capacity drives that use less power and are more reliable with additional error correcting.
